Shenzhen University Medical School Graduate Students Receive Scholarships to Study Abroad at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Thirty-five outstanding graduate students majoring in biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, public health, clinical medicine, and basic medical sciences were selected as recipients of competitive medical school scholarships to support their overseas studies.

From 24 November to 1 December 2024, a group of medical school students participated in a 1-week program on Biomedical Science and Research Skills at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. NTU is a leading research university offering a broad-based education across disciplines. It is home to 35,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in its Business, Computing and Data Science, Engineering, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Medicine, Science, and Graduate colleges. Here, the students attended academic lectures on topics such as Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, The Application of AI in the Medical Industry, and Research Skills for Medical Students.

A current PhD student at NTU guided the group  around the university's iconic architectural landmarks, including Gaia, The Hive, The Wave, The Arc, and the School of Art, Design and Media building. The students also enjoyed the natural beauty of the expansive Yunnan Garden.

On the final day of the programme, all six study groups presented their research topics, which covered areas such as biomedical engineering, drug target design, and clinical data analysis. These presentations showcased the students' research results and achievements from the course. The programme also fostered a spirit of teamwork and strengthened communication among participants. To conclude the event, Professor Chen Wei Ning, William, holder of the Michael Fam Chair Professorship in Food Science and Technology, awarded certificates of completion to all students.
